The Long Journey Stop #3: UNC

July 8, 2020

Mack. Fucking. Brown. Talk about a guy that has a second chance to be a College Football King, and all he has to do is make it to the ACC Championship and put up a good fight.

The 2nd oldest coach in Power 5 Football has got a handful of a schedule in front of him but a good team around him and an excellent recruiting class for the future.

Last year with freshman QB, UNC went 7-5, but lost each game by 1 score or less. Meaning there was a lot left on the table that they wanted. Sam Howell is back and hoping to improve upon a decent freshman year to string up a team with high expectations.

Lots of journalists have been picking UNC to win the softer ACC coastal division because of what they were able to show on the field last year, and they have a good chance.

Keep an eye out for RB Javonte Williams. The Junior made great strides last year as the season went on, and was a big part in helping them have the second most productive offense in yards from scrimmage in the SEC last year behind the cheatin Clemson Tigers.

Defense could be a big concern however. They’re losing a whopping 7 starters from last years team but the good news is that offenses in the ACC suck rusty nails so they should be able to hold their own.

They start off with two games that will certainly have a lot of eyes on them and two losses (even though out of conference) can squelch their fire quickly. I expect them to get a slow start but then make a run to the ACC Championship toward the middle and end of the season

Key Games;

UNC vs UCf 9/4

UNC vs Lee County (Auburn) 9/12

UNC vs UVA 10/3

Prediction: 9-3
