Welcome to the Wizarding World of the Wager Wizard

December 5, 2020

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. Let me just say it is an honor to be able to bless you all with these CFB locks of the weekend. These locks are more likely than Harry Potter catching the golden snitch. Let’s Avada Kedavra these picks this weekend.

  • Alabama -17 1H
  • Boston College ML +145
  • BYU -10
  • OVER/UNDER LOCK OF THE WEEK

Alabama -17 1H vs. LSU

The Alabama Crimson Tide are back in death machine mode. The revenge tour isn’t over yet even after a 42-13 trouncing of the West Georgia Tigers from over in Auburn, Georgia. This team has the highest scoring offense in the Power 5, scoring a whopping 48.5 points a game. LSU has posted horrendous defensive performances against Auburn (L 48-11), Mississippi State (L 44-34), and Missouri (L 45-41). Had Kellen Mond not gone 11 for 34, the A&M vs. LSU game last week would have been much, much uglier.

All you need to know is that Alabama’s opening 3-and-out against Auburn was only the second first quarter 3-and-out this entire season. Expect Alabama to jump out to an early lead and keep the pedal down for the rest of the game.

Boston College ML +145 or better vs. Virginia

Boston College is up against the Cavaliers this weekend in an ACC snooze fest. I mean, seriously, who cares? I do, because this is an easy opportunity to make some cold hard cash. UVA’s defense is horrible, and it just lost its starting middle linebacker to a season ending ankle injury.

Three straight victories may look impressive for Virginia, but those wins came against Abilene Christian, a Louisville team missing two of its primary offensive weapons due to COVID-19, and a UNC team that managed to average 8.8 yards per play to UVA’s 5.6. This is good value at +145, and I feel the spread should be close to a PK. Get rich.

BYU10 (buy half a point)

Both teams are vying to be the one non-Power 5 team at the end of the year to complain about how they aren’t getting a shot to be in the College Football Playoff. However, BYU might actually be a team that’s decent enough to have a compelling argument. Their rushing attack is one of the best in the nation, and the Chanticleers have shown they are slightly suspect against the run this year. And, as good as quarterback Grayson McCall has been for Coastal this year, the Chanticleers run the ball on 64% of their plays, playing right into the stingy Cougar defense. Expect the Cougars to win by double digits in this one.

OVER/UNDER LOCK OF THE WEEK (LSU Team Total UNDER 19 1/2)

If you think this LSU team can score 20 points on this Alabama Crimson Tide defense, especially after Terrace Marshall opted out (he’s scared Pawwwllll), see below (SOUND UP):
