In life there are certain rarities that you have to appreciate every time they happen. Haley’s Comet, a solar eclipse, snow in the south, the McRib, but none greater than Alabama winning a close basketball game.
After falling behind like 30-14 in the first half the tide somehow rallied and won by 3. Could’ve been by 7 but Shack can’t make free throws so we didn’t cover but it’s cool. There was a huge momentum shift late in the first half because Alabama realized they had 5 guys who were all bigger than the five Furman had on the floor. This led to the Tide learning how offensive rebound as well as try and score the ball in the paint. Also thank goodness Furman cooled down good night that was a lot to deal with at the beginning.
About halfway through the second half God, I mean James Rojas, took the floor in a white jersey donned with the number 33 in crimson. He proceeded to make literally every play in the final quarter of the game. Rojas grabbed loose ball after loose ball. Offensive board after offensive board. Without about a minute left he drilled a go ahead 3 pointer and the Tide never looked back. Put a #33 jersey in the rafters.
Is the curse broken? Will Alabama be able to follow a win up with a win? Have to wait and see, but for now we can all be pleased with winning a close game for once. (Also Furman’s coach is sick) Shoutout to the bench crew for keeping the morale up. Thank you Britton Johnson. 🤝
