Big Days and Bad Days

September 23, 2020

The third weekend of September had a lot of action going on. College Football all day Saturday, some amazing NFL victories on Sunday, toss in a couple of NBA games that people forgot about, and it made for truly an unreal slate of sports on the weekend. Some people had Big Days, some people had Bad days, but today’s a great day to have a great day. Let’s get to it.

Big Day

Greg The Leg

Greg Zuerlein kicked what is going to be known as one of the most magical kicks in NFL history, and it moved 10 yards in 6.9 seconds. The small curling onside recovery for the cowboys was one of the most beautiful moments for the weekend, and probably for the entire NFL Season.

Justin Herbert

This kid, finds out literally 5 seconds before kickoff that he’s about to start his first ever NFL game, against the reigning, defending, undisputed, champions of the world. 10 SECONDS BEFORE KICKOFF. I would’ve violently puked before I could even get my helmet off. And what does he do? BALLS THE FUCK OUT. Throws for 311 yards, 1 TD, 1 Rush TD, and a 94 passer rating in his first ever game. Tough loss but man, he lead his team to overtime against the Chiefs. Helluva Big Day.

DK Metcalf

If you watched the SNF game, DK and Stephon Gilmore were going AT IT. Late hits, excessive blocking, gut punches, face mask rips, stingers left and right, and a straight up brawl on the seahawks sideline. And guess who left laughing. Donkey Kong Metcalf. His bomb of a TD while shaking off the NFL Defensive MVP like he was a 12 year old boy was a feat of pure excellence. DK left Gilmore in the dirt, and the Seahawks held on to a huge directional win to the soon to be Super Bowl Champs.

Bad Day

Dan Quinn

I mean… you fucked up bro. He probably had the same feeling walking into the office today as I did as a 2nd grade kid when my dad got home after the principal called him saying I said the word “Penis” in art class. I was about to get my ass beat. And so did Dan Quinn. At least on social media. That loss can only be pinned back to one thing, undisciplined coaching. That’s all you man. That’s all you. Very Bad day.

Danny Lee

Perhaps the most unprofessional professional golfer ever. In the US open, 3rd round, Danny Lee was coming up to 18 at 3 over, which for this course was a good, not great, but good score. He lines up a 4 foot par putt, and misses high. Oof. Lines up the next 3 footer and misses it…and then misses it………and then misses it…………and then misses it………and then makes it. Not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, but 6 putts from 4 feet away. As a professional golfer. Then he had the balls to withdraw for a “wrist injury.” STFU Dan. You embarrassed yourself and embarrassed the PGA. Go back to no one remembering your name.

Ligaments

If you play in football and you still have all your ligaments and tendons and body intact, pray every day to whatever God you find responsible for that. Yesterday had to be the worst injury day in NFL history (shoulda played preseason games) but the injury monster is out there and he’s coming to snatch up some ACL’s this season.
