Cap’s Locks: My Sweet 16

March 24, 2023

Happy Friday from Las Vegas, Nevada, United States of America. Thanks for joining for this special edition of Cap’s Locks, I’ll be your host today.

Before we get going, please note that I’m working on the name. Not married to Cap’s Locks. Thought about Joe Cap’s No Caps. Just not sure. Lmk if you have thoughts.

As you know, if you would have bet against the Doc last week, you’d be 9 for 11. Ouch. Even a Doc needs saving sometimes. Since that is unfortunately the case, and seeing as I won a few units on Farleigh Dickinson ML last week (one of 10 people to do so outside of New Jersey), I asked the Doc if I could come cleanse the place with a few picks this weekend. I’m not doing it for me. I care about this website. I care about winning. Most of all, I care about you. I want you to eat. I want all my dogs to eat. Call it what you want; a vibe reset, a fung shui shootout, I don’t care. I call em locks.

Before you do anything, get your mind in a serene place. I played golf this morning. Shot 72. The back 9 didn’t go as well. I had a cocktail. I’m seeing a risqué show at Caesars Palace tonight. Eating healthy before a pool day tomorrow. But right now, I am sitting in the famed Bellagio sports book, and let me tell you this: the House is SWEATING. They see the board, they see me, they are SCARED. I might buy Vegas, provided they’ll be able to cash me out. Remember, this isn’t about you or me, this is about us.

1. Money Line: Tide ML -350. TRAP GAME! Hate this game. Don’t like the spread. Don’t like the O/U. Only lock I see here is Tide ML. I’m an Ole Miss guy. I don’t really care for Alabama. Is it jealousy? Could be. Should that stop me, you, us, from winning money? No. It shouldn’t. Tide comes out guns blazin’, but be cautious. Tide doesn’t roll, but peacefully ripples.

2. Parlay: Princeton +9.5 AND Under 139.5 (+250). I’ll be honest, have not seen one single minute of these two teams play. But 9.5 points is a lot of points. Too many points. And 139.5? Not a lot of points…but enough. Expect a physical, defensive game. A smart man would live bet Princeton ML if they come out roaring like a big cat. A hiss won’t get it done.

3. Bonus Pick: Speith to win the WGC (+1600). Man oh man do I love this bet. I love the WGC. There’s just something about match play. Stacked field this weekend. We got Rory, Scottie, Collin, and may we not forget our favorite family man: Tiger Tony Finau. But here’s the thing, Speith is so close. He’s been literally doing everything he can not to win the last few weeks, and still, he finds himself in position to do it. A winner is just a loser that kept going. I wouldn’t bet the house on this, but at least bet a few things from the attic. It isn’t a shoe-in, it’s a chip-in.

Beat the House.
