Sources are telling me that there are going to be some unprecedented moves in this years NFL draft. I’ve been told to expect for the unexpected to happen and now I’m giving you the insider scoop. Here’s my final mock draft.
1. Cincinnati Bengals– Joe Burrow, QB LSU
Although it’s not quite clear what the Bengals are attempting to do with Andy Dalton, one thing for sure is that he’s not the long term answer. What better person to start a new regime than the winningest Heisman in CFB history
2. Washington Native Americans– Chase Young, DE Ohio State
Do the DC Native Americans need an elite edge rusher? Sure. Do they need a lot of other help? Clearly. If you need improvement across the board may as well take the best player available.
3. Detroit Lions– Jeff Okudah, CB Ohio State
After embarrassingly losing Darius Slay, the Lions need a quick answer. Matt Patricia also starting to feel his seat getting warmer will be looking to build up an elite defense to save his career.
4. New York Giants– Jedrick Wills Jr., OL Alabama
It seems like the Giants may have found their man for the QB job in Danny Dimes, and clearly have one of the best running backs in the league. In order to really start offensive production, it’s time to beef up their OL with an elite Pass Defender and someone who can seal the edge on a run.
5. Miami Dolphins– Tua Tagovailoa, QB Alabama
It’s clear the Dolphins need a new man behind center, and one that needs to be a long term answer. It’s unclear who as many reports are saying they have interested in Herbert, but sources are leading back that the Dolphins may have been pushing the Herbert narrative in order to make Tagovailoa an easier selection
6. New England Patriots (trade w/ LAC)-Justin Herbert, QB Oregon
Rumors are swirling that the Patriots have a lot of interest in Herbert. And as the only team left with a huge question mark at QB, expect Belichick to pull some wild moves to ensure the dynasty stays alive
7. Carolina Panthers-Derrick Brown, DE Auburn
After an off season losing Cam Newton, Luke Keuchly and Greg Olsen, the Panthers responded by adding Teddy Bridgewater and resigning McCaffrey. Derrick Brown has potential to develop into a gamewrecker, something the Thers defense will surely need with their future HOF Linebacker hanging up his cleats
8. Arizona Cardinals-Tristan Wirfs, OL Iowa
Initially it seemed like the Cardinals would be looking for a WR, with thoughts of Larry calling it a career. But then Larry decided to give it one more run and they went and stole De’Andre Hopkins and loaded themselves up out wide. Kyler Murray looks promising now all they need to do is protect him. With one of the worst OL in the leagues last year, expect them to use a draft pick or two, or three in an attempt to beef up.
9. Jacksonville Jaguars-CJ Henderson, CB Florida
No one is exactly sure what is going on in the Jaguars locker room, but one thing for sure is its not good. After sending Jalen Ramsey to the Rams in a PR nightmare, they’ll be looking to sign a red hot corner to help a confused and hurting fanbase.
10. Cleveland Browns-Mekhi Becton, OL Louisville
The Browns have star power. Offensively and defensively they have the household names now. It’s time to fill in the gaps. Building their hurting offensive line is the natural choice and with as big of a player as Mekhi Becton on the board, no chance the Browns can pass that up.
