The Long Journey Stop #1: Georgia Tech

June 10, 2020

For a team that finished 3-9 last year, coming in dead last in the Coastal Division of the ACC conference, this is a team and a fanbase that seems to be very optimistic. Why? Just because they saw their team run a 21st century style of offense for the first time since…well… the beginning of the 21st century.

And I miss the triple option dearly, probably the most pure form of football and that fanbase just shat on it and didn’t appreciate the beautiful game they were playing. But, I digress. Geoff Collins certainly seems to be bringing the team in a positive direction.

Transforming a team from the triple option to the a modern offense takes time, and recruiting. Two things Collins is slowly starting to amass. Currently ranked at the #26 recruting class in the country, the Rambling Wreck is finally getting dynamic athletes on their roster. The one guy you need to keep an eye on the bottom ticker for, WR Ahmarean Brown.

Brown was Tech’s leading receiver and tied Calvin Johnson’s school record of receiving touchdown in a season…as a freshman. Along with a beefing up, young roster, and a full year of Collins being able to implement his system, I’d expect a BIG year out of Brown, and an improved season record.

Season Prediction: 5-7

Key Games:

Vs UCF Week 3: The first real toss up game for the yellowjackets, this game will really dictate their season, a win hear can give them a lot of confidence going into the rest of the season, a loss will be worrisome.

Vs Miami Week 11: Going into the last three games they have Notre Dame, Miami, and Georgia. Going 0-3 here will nearly certainly keep them out of bowl season, but a 5 team win going into Miami will know its their last chance.
