The Long Journey Stop #2: Duke

July 8, 2020

Get ready for a HOT start for the Blue Devils this year. After finishing 5-7 in 2019, the Blue Devils have a lot to prove in the 2020 season and they will get off with a bang.

The first 4 games for Duke should all be cake walk wins, starting off with Mid Tenn, Elon, Charlotte, and Pitt. After that they find themselves in two winnable games with NC State and Wake Forest before getting into the meat of their schedule. Meaning there can quickly be a lot of hype for the beginning followed by a very cool quiet ending.

With Clemson transfer Chase Brice coming in at quarterback with a David Cutcliffe system and development, there could be a gunslinger in the makings in Eastern North Carolina. Mesh that with a couple other big name players, there will be some early buzz for them to lose to Clemson in the ACC championship game.

Other Players to know:

John Calhoun, sophmore receiver who racked up 46 receptions for 420 yards (lol) as a freshman last year, Cutcliffe will surely look to use him to give Brice plenty of opportunities.

TE Noah Gray, a big body who plays similar to Gronk, will definitely be able to stretch the field up the middle against some questionable ACC secondaries.

Duke Offensive line, they have returned 4 of their 5 starters, and picked up Devery Hamilton, a grad transfer tackle from Stanford (bet he’s gonna brag about his college degrees forever) which ultimately add up to the deepest and most experienced O line Duke has had in years and should compete as one of the best in the country, giving Brice plenty of time to sling his balls across their oponents.

Key Games:

Wake @ Duke 10/3

Duke @ UNC 10/17

Virginia Tech @ Duke 11/21

Prediction: 7-5, coming to Charlotte for the Mayonnaise Bowl.
